New military exercise between Greece and Israel
Joint exercise is being conducted between units of the Greek Army Air Force and Israeli Air Force, as announced by the Hellenic National Defense General Staff. The joint activities began on June 20 and are expected to be completed in June 30. The exercise is conducted within the framework of the military cooperation between Greece and Israel in 2011.
In recent years Israeli Air Force (IAF) has made training exercises outside the State of Israel in cooperation with foreign air forces to train IAF pilots on how to cope in an unfamiliar airspace and unusual soil environment.
Similar training was held last year by the IAF in cooperation with the Hellenic Air Force in the Peloponnese and parts of southern Greece in a response to the need of the IAF training of pilots in unfamiliar areas.
