Announcement: Hacking attempt against our website

Over the previous days, another hacking attempt, more serious this time, was performed against defencegreece.com and the server hosting it. The target of this unlawful intrusion of our website was to defame it and eventually bring it down. We believe we have taken appropriate action to protect our website against these attacks. These attacks will be evaluated to determine if there are any additional protections we might take that would be prudent. Why do some wish that we remain silent?

I wonder who is interested in doing that kind of stuff. Where are the arguments? Where is the freedom of speech? It seems that some people do not endorse the values of democracy and the free culture of the internet and can’t stand in an argument so they have to resort to these actions. Guys we support you. Keep up the good work.

This is a great site and very important. It’s reassuring that these attacks have been identified and protective measures taken.

Several times when I have entered the defencegreece.com website I have had an attack on my computer the instant the webpage appears! Is this part of defencegreece.com attepmt to protect itself and showing up as an attack or is it some other malicious attack trying to keep us quiet?

    • James E

Agree, Whilst this site has great articles and has some good people commenting on articles more and more my firewall is complaining about malicious code… Are you guys still under attack and are they injecting code on the frame set?

      • DefenceGreece

        Dear stylianos and James E,

our website is been constantly monitored by online scanning tools for any potential threat or injection of malicious code since the last attack. Hopefully nothing negative has been reported.

However your comments have alerted us. According to our technical staff there might be still a problem with some of our visitors because their web browsers (or their proxy server if they use any) might still hold an outdated cached copy of the infected file. This is a file that downloads along with the website in order to provide some extra functionality and was the target of the attack. In order to solve this they advise to perform a so-called ‘hard refresh’ by pressing Ctrl+F5 in order to get the fresh clean version of the file.

This attack was more sneaky than originally thought.

        Thank you for your feedback.
